Jim Miller Joins Oakland Consulting Group, Inc. to Lead Oakland’s Software Reseller Business Unit

Oakland Consulting Group, Inc. (OCG) announced today that Jim Miller has joined Oakland to lead our Software Reseller business unit. Jim will be based out of Oakland’s Headquarters Office in Lanham, MD.
Jim brings decades of demonstrated leadership in various aspects of the technology reseller marketplace. Over his career he has successfully sold to a large number of Federal Defense and Civilian agencies. Most recently he was a Senior Partner with Sigma Consulting Group. Oakland Consulting Group to Help Maryland Move HR to the Workday Cloud

Oakland Consulting Group, one of the nation’s fastest growing private information technology firms and a certified Minority Business Enterprise, announced today that it has signed a contract with the State of Maryland to administer the deployment of Workday HCM, which will replace the State’s legacy, on premise software with a cloud-based human resources (HR) solution provided by Workday. For this initiative, Oakland will administer the contract with Workday to deploy Workday HCM, Workday Time Tracking and Workday Benefits. Workday is a leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources.
The State’s new HR system will enable more than 45,000 employees across 54 agencies to easily access and manage their personnel, time tracking, and benefits information in the cloud, while arming State leaders with a holistic view of the workforce and agency management with better insight into their teams.
With an overall objective to standardize its information technology in the cloud, Maryland will replace its existing systems for personnel, time tracking and benefits with a unified, multi-tenant cloud application built to scale and adapt to the State’s long-term needs. Workday HCM offers Maryland a system that improves security and risk mitigation with internal controls and audit tools for regulatory compliance and reduces the risks and cost of maintaining multiple legacy systems. The system will also streamline workforce-related business processes within and between agencies.
Maryland expects to complete the first phase of deployment in the second half of 2014. Oakland is also partnering with Workday to extend the Workday Benefits module to approximately 110,000 additional employees and retirees from other state agencies and universities in the second phase of its deployment.

Oakland Wins Prime Contract to Deliver Defense Retiree and Annuitant Pay System 2

Oakland was awarded a prime contract by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) under a Contractor Teaming Agreement (CTA) to develop and implement the Defense Retiree and Annuitant Pay System 2 (DRAS2). The overall program will be led by team lead SRA International. DRAS2 is a single, fully integrated system that provides combined personnel and pay functionality for over 2.6 million military retirees, former spouses and beneficiaries. The system operator, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), anticipates considerable efficiency improvements once DRAS2 replaces the current legacy mainframe-based systems. Oakland’s contract term with options is five years.

Oakland Consulting Group Welcomes Denise Holland as SAP Project Manager

Oakland Consulting Group, Inc. (OCG) is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Denise Holland to serve as the Project Manager to assist Prince George’s County, MD with the support of the recently implemented SAP financial solution. A seasoned project manager with more than 15 years of experience managing IT projects, overseeing production support activities and establishing a Center of Excellence, Denise will be the primary client executive for the Prince George’s County project.
Prior to joining OCG, Denise worked for AMTRAK where she was the SAP IT Director. Denise has also worked with private and public sector clients, assisting them with their SAP solution implementations. A strong project manager, Denise actively participates in project management and industry conferences as a speaker and organizer.
A Baltimore native, Denise holds a B.A. in Computer Science from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a M.S. in IT/Project Management from the American Intercontinental University.
