Prince George’s County Government’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) has awarded Oakland Consulting Group a contract to provide post-implementation support for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program.  The County’s ERP Program aims to replace several of its legacy systems with SAP-based solutions. Oakland will be working closely with the County’s ERP Center of Excellence (CoE) to provide SAP Tier 2 and Tier 3 support services starting July 1, the anticipated go-live date for the first wave of implementation.

Oakland has served as the key subcontractor during this first wave of the SAP implementation, which addresses finance and procurement functional areas.  Oakland will continue work as a subcontractor on subsequent implementation waves.  The next implementation wave will focus on human capital management and strategic procurement functional areas.  Three more planned implementation waves have goals of providing additional SAP functionality, including work order management, public budget formulation, talent management and treasury services.  Each wave will involve the full implementation life cycle, including functional and technical design, configuration and build, testing, training and change management. Oakland will continue its support of the upcoming implementation waves.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the success of this important project for Prince George’s County,” said CEO Cedric Nash.  “We will draw on our 17 years of SAP implementation and support experience, to assist our home county in realizing world-class SAP support.”

The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area by acquiring food and distributing it through its network of partner agencies, distributing annually 45 million pounds of food to nearly 500,000 people in the region struggling with hunger. The CAFB offers volunteers the opportunity to “Learn, Care, Act” by donating time which saves the CAFB over $2.5 million in annual expenses. Sixteen Oakland headquarters staff personnel went as a volunteer team to pitch in at the large CAFB warehouse in Northeast DC, sorting donated frozen food items into various categories for shipment to individual CAFB partner agencies for direct distribution to the needy. The effort began with a brief training session, followed by the Oakland team self-organizing their effort to achieve optimal results. The Oakland team worked diligently, completing the sorting of all food available. Upon completion of the volunteer work the Oakland team went to dinner together at a nearby restaurant.

Cedric E. Nash, Oakland CEO, noted “I am very grateful to our staff for their time and effort for this important cause. Giving back to the community is an important element of Oakland’s mission, so we welcomed the opportunity to help at CAFB”.
