The Army Shared Services Center (Army SSC) at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, awarded Oakland Consulting Group a two-year contract to support sustainment of the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP). Oakland was selected for its expertise in SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and was the only contractor of three awardees that is not an incumbent LMP contractor. The LMP currently serves more than 21,000 users at over 50 Army and Department of Defense (DoD) locations, manages approximately $22 billion in inventory, and handles over 2 million transactions daily.
“We are both thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to participate in a program of such importance and size,” said CEO Cedric Nash. “We look forward to providing outstanding services to help the Army realize its long-term vision for LMP.”
The scope and capabilities of LMP will be expanded during Oakland’s contract. Currently the Army Materiel Command (AMC) Industrial Base (IB) is using a number of disparate and discrete applications and databases to manage their shop floor activities. Oakland expects work on this contract to begin within a few weeks.
The LMP interfaces with over 70 DoD systems with millions of inbound / outbound interface transactions processed on a weekly basis. The LMP uses SAP’s Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products to deliver capabilities that streamline the business processes associated with the planning, acquisition, supply, maintenance, repair and overhaul of weapon systems, spare parts, and services to the War Fighter. LMP also provides management capability for the Army Working Capital Fund (AWCF) and addresses functionality in key Army business areas including: Supply Chain Planning, Provisioning/Material Master Maintenance, Procurement / Acquisition, Inventory and Warehouse Management, Distribution, Maintenance Programs and Depot Operations, Ammunition, and Ammunition Supply and Distribution Planning.
Oakland Headquarters Staff Returns to Capital Area Food Bank as Part of Community Service Program
Lanham, MD, 6/3/2015
The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area by acquiring food and distributing it through its network of partner agencies, distributing annually 45 million pounds of food to nearly 500,000 people in the region struggling with hunger. Fourteen Oakland headquarters staff personnel went for the second year running as a volunteer team to pitch in at the large CAFB warehouse in Northeast DC, sorting several tons of donated food items into numerous categories for shipment to individual CAFB partner agencies for direct distribution to the needy. The effort began with a brief training session, followed by individual Oakland personnel taking boxes of unsorted foods and placing individual items into categorized bins. The Oakland team worked diligently, completing the sorting of all food available. Upon completion of the volunteer work the Oakland team went to dinner together at a nearby restaurant.
Cedric E. Nash, Oakland CEO, noted “I am very grateful to our staff for their time and effort for this important cause again this year. Giving back to the community is an important element of Oakland’s mission, so we welcomed the opportunity to help at CAFB”.
